김성수(1988년생)는 대한민국 서울을 기반으로 활동하는 공예 작가입니다.
한양대학교에서 금속디자인을 전공하며 학사와 석사 과정을 마쳤고,
2016년부터 본격적인 작가 활동을 시작했습니다.
그래픽 소프트웨어로 정교하게 설계한 도면을 바탕으로,
평면적인 소재를 구조적인 형태로 변형시키며 자신만의 조형 언어를 구축하고 있습니다.
이는 전통적인 금속공예의 영역에 디지털 감각을 접목한 작업 방식으로,
평면과 입체, 계산과 감성 사이의 경계를 탐색하는 데 중점을 두고 있습니다.
또한 일상 속에서 널리 쓰이는 제품의 형식과 규칙에서 조금씩 벗어나려는 시도를 통해
실용성과 미적 감성이 공존하는 공예품을 제안합니다.
익숙하면서도 낯선 형태를 통해 관람자에게 새로운 시각적 경험을 제공하며
기능성과 예술성 사이의 균형을 끊임없이 질문합니다.
2018년과 2021년에는 서울에서, 2023년에는 일본 오사카에서 개인전을 개최했으며,
그 외 다수의 단체전 및 박람회에 참여하며 활동 영역을 넓혀가고 있습니다.
현재는 서울 노량진에 위치한 개인 스튜디오에서 작품 활동을 이어가고 있으며
공예와 디자인의 경계를 넘나드는 작업을 통해 작품 세계를 확장해 나가고 있습니다.
